Ed. Note: No, those are not new uniforms up top. They're from our New York State Flag uniform design contest. Relax.
There are few things that move the needle in the world of sports blogging like new uniforms. So I for one welcome the news that our Nike Overlords have recently visited Syracuse to discuss new garb.
Also worth noting in Chris Carlson's piece is the development that we might be seeing new helmets as soon as next week.
Nike was on campus earlier this summer soliciting players for their thoughts on new uniform concepts.
And, according to several players, it's likely Syracuse will unveil a new helmet this year, perhaps as early as the home opener next Saturday against Wagner.
Linebacker Dyshawn Davis, who also attended the meeting, said fans "can expect something new this year, hopefully. Next year, definitely kind of like a new everything."
Perhaps the most intrigung detail comes from Jay Bromley, who told reporters, "I heard about us having some type of blue helmets or something like that."
We already know that the Syracuse cheerleaders are sporting new gear and so is the Marching Band. And since it's been three years in this uniform set, and three years is basically an eon in uniform terms, it's no surprise to hear we're moving onto the next phase.
No. 1, I can't wait for the obligatory image of the Syracuse Orange football player holding out his hands to show off the kinda-cool glove design that no one will ever actually see or notice again.
No. 2, so help me God it better not be this.
No. 3, I'm fine if its this.
