Look out for Blyrone Blashinton this weekend. The speedy, long-haired SU player might just get some snaps at QB.
Syracuse athletics continues restructuring of academic services | syracuse.com
"There is a lot involved in the structural make-up of the academic department at the university and there are ways we can make that more efficient and beneficial for the student-athlete,'' SU's senior associate athletic director Joe Giansante said earlier this week. "Sometimes people get hung up on who's doing what, but we're focusing on the kids. If we can find a better way to manage things, we'll do that.''
"I think there's a bit of a misconception with looking off receivers unless you've played the position," Shafer said. "You have to see what you throw to and you have to react to what you're getting in front of you, whether it's the front and the coverage or something as small as finding the right windows to throw through. .. The brunt of all offensive miscues circles its way back to the quarterback. What you don't see from the outside is if a quarterback reads the coverage the right way and the wide receiver isn't where he needs to be. There's so much that goes into it."
Syracuse likely to make small recruiting strides but unlikely to match ACC rivals | syracuse.com
All three major recruiting sites, Rivals, Scout and 247Sports, currently project Syracuse to bring in its best recruiting class since 2008, Greg Robinson's final year leading the program. Still Syracuse's current class ranks ahead of only Wake Forest in the ACC, according to two of the sites. Scout.com has the Orange ahead of Wake Forest and Duke.
Syracuse football mailbag: Everyone wants to know about the quarterbacks | syracuse.com
It's clear that the quarterback competition is between Drew Allen and Terrel Hunt at this point, but Kimble has a great chance of pushing Hunt for playing time next year. Will he see the field? I don't know. But the coaches love his skill set, and he is definitely a dual-threat player that enjoys tucking and running as much as throwing the ball down the field.
Joe Giansante, the chief communications officer for Syracuse athletics and an assistant athletic director, said SU is playing during Yom Kippur because the ACC and ESPN set kickoff times for schools.
Prosecutors were concerned by inconsistencies between the alleged victim's statements and those of independent eye witnesses.
The SU quarterback saga, perhaps over-discussed, gets discussed even more. And, come on, what's going on with that baseball team of ours?
"I doubt very much that the right thing for Syracuse is to try and be a Washington University," he said. "I suspect Vanderbilt and Michigan aren’t good models, either. I think Syracuse has to be Syracuse."
