Syracuse Football Recruiting: Connecticut RB/DB Erv Phillips Commits to Syracuse

Syracuse football gets some good news this weekend, with the commitment of West Haven native Erv Phillips.

After yesterday's game at MetLife Stadium, Syracuse football was due for some good news.  Why not a nice recruiting commitment?

West Haven HS (CT) running back/defensive back Erv Phillips announced his commitment to Syracuse via twitter this afternoon:

Phillips is the twelfth member of Syracuse's class of 2014 (if you include Wayne Williams), and the second potential running back along with Naesean Howard. Other members of the class got in on the celebration on Twitter after Erv sent his tweet.

Phillips is a three-star prospect according to 247sports, and has not been ranked by Scout or Rivals. He also holds a Temple offer, and has interest from Rutgers, UConn, BC, Pitt, and Maryland, among others.

As a junior, Phillips rushed for 1,030 yards and 22 touchdowns, leading West Haven to an 8-2 record and trip to the Connecticut LL Playoff quarterfinals.
