Get To Know Your Orange Man - #56, OL John Miller

"He really likes to move you." - Scott Shafer

US PRESSWIRE

Name: John Wesley Miller, Jr.

Position: Offensive line

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 308 pounds

Hometown: Carson, CA

High School: Redondo Union

2012 Stats: Miller was named 2012 SCFA National Division Central Conference Second Team Offense while at Los Angeles Harbor College.

2013 Projections: It's Miller's first year at SU but he's already got the inside track on the 2nd-string right guard spot, behind Nick Robinson. As of this very moment, there is no one behind him on the depth chart. Chances are, the JUCO transfer will get some PT if he keeps it up.

How'd He Get Here?: After a year at LA Harbor, Syracuse reached out to Miller with an offer. He drew interest from Oregon, Wazzu, Memphis, and others as well.

Scout/Rivals Said: Rivals said three-stars while Scout said two.

Money Quote: "I think I am athletic enough to pull outside. Get out on screens and get to the second level, and they don’t expect that with my size. I pride myself for this off-season on working hard and making sure I am in great shape to do those types of things. I had an exceptional season because linebackers weren’t expecting me to be able to get them because they thought I was too big."

Tweets of Wonder: None that I can find.

What Does Shafer Think: "He really likes to move you. He gets up underneath you, and he uses his hands well. And he’s one of those young men who’s already here working."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: According to his JUCO coach, Dino BBQ was a big factor in getting him here.

"It was nice. It wasn’t too cold. It wasn’t snowing or anything. They took us on a tour of the business school. We got to tour through all the football facilities, to see the practice field and the Carrier Dome. They took us out to a nice restaurant, Dinosaur BBQ. It was top-notch and there were no complaints."
