Get To Know Your Orange Man - #8, DB Keon Lyn

It's now or never for Neon Keon.

Mark Konezny-US PRESSWIRE

Name: Keondrick Louis Lyn

Position: Defensive Back

Year: Senior

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 201

Hometown: Miramar, FL

High School: Miramar HS

2012 Stats: Lyn played in every game for the Orange last season, starting ten of them. He made 46 tackles, three interceptions and one forced fumble. He was tied for seventh in interceptions (0.23 avg/g) and tied for eighth in the BIG EAST in passes defended (0.77 avg/g)

2013 Projections: Lyn is an undisputed starter in the defensive secondary this year. He's the elder statesman and we're counting on him to shut down whatever threats may be coming our way. He's basically an Avenger.

How'd He Get Here: Lyn was set to go to Northern Illinois but decided to head North to Syracuse instead. South Florida, along with Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Utah State, and Miami (OH) also had interest.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Two stars by Rivals and three stars by Scout.

Money Quote: "We don’t really consider it a rivalry. They probably do because we beat them in the last two years, so it’s probably important for them to get the win. It’s important for us to keep winning against them." - Keon on West Virginia. #BOSS

Links of Wonder: Keon's Twitterfeed. It's a must-follow.

Tweets of Wonder: I'm just glad to hear he's doing yoga. Gotta stay limber...

What Does Shafer Think: Here's DB coach Fred Reed on Keon during the spring...

"The guy that's (doing) the best in the spring ball and into the summer is Keon. Keon has taken a giant step forward from the first day I stepped on campus to this point. He sees the handwriting on the wall in terms of what he needs to do if he wants to take that next step. He's doing everything that you would want a guy to do and more. He's stepped up as a leader, so I'm happy in his performance. He's got great speed, got the size, the agility. He just really did a good job making plays in spring and previously he's done that as well."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Keon will be looking for a little payback when we play Northwestern. He got called for a shady roughing penalty with seconds left that allowed the Wildcats to keep driving and eventually win.
