Get To Know Your Orange Man - #24, DB Jaston George

Cornerback Jaston George is looking to break through and find playing time this season.

Name: Jaston George

Position: Defensive back

Year: Sophomore

Height: 5'10"

Weight: 175

Hometown: Chesapeake, VA

High School: Oscar F. Smith H.S.

2012 Stats: George played in 12 games last season, mostly in spot duty. He garnered two tackles, one solo.

2013 Projections: PT might still be hard to come by in 2013. George seems to have been leapfrogged on the depth chart and has some freshmen challenging as well. Injuries and poor play by upperclassmen could end up giving him a chance to see the field more.

How'd He Get Here?: George chose Syracuse over East Carolina, Richmond and Norfolk State. George evidently picked the Orange over the other schools because Syracuse offered him a scholarship first and because the coaching staff, mainly SU assistant Rob Moore, went hardcore after the running back/defensive back.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Scout gave George 3 stars, rating him in the top 100 recruits at corner back (89). Rivals gave George 2 stars.

Money Quote: "I just fell in love with the school." - George on why he chose SU.

What Does Shafer Think: Dunno but one time George's name was mis-spelled as "Jason" on a depth chart so we'll assume that's what Coach Shafer calls him.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: George was high school teammates with Syracuse WR Quinta Funderburk.

Let Me Get A Good Look Atcha: Oscar Smith isn't just a name of a uppity English accountant living with a sloppy roommate, it's a legit high school football power too. Here's video proof of that and of George's dominance in high school.
