Syracuse Men's Soccer: Orange Drop Hoyas, 3-1

A 3-1 victory over rival Georgetown seals a successful preseason campaign for the Orange Soccer Team.

The Orange are 3-0 this preseason. I'd say that's a solid start to any campaign. They open their regular season this Friday against Colgate. The game will be televised on TWC Sports at 7pm which will be quite nice for any of you not able to make it down to Hamilton for the tilt (which is probably most of you).

Skip it if you've heard this before, but Nick Perea and Stefanos Stamoulacatos scored for the Orange and Alex Bono saves things. Bono had seven saves on the day, getting the full run of the afternoon. Recurring themes all around, but Perea was able to net two, one from the spot off of a Chris Nanco won penalty. His second goal was a quick strike off a Jordan Murrell cross. Again, I'm seeing a repeating theme... Murrell crosses, people finish. It's great.

Perea apparently didn't think two goals were enough, and fed Stamo on a through ball for his finish. That's his third straight match with a goal, which is nice to see. Overall from what I can gather, the Orange looked good. They're scoring from run of play and not giving up anything with their defensive efforts.

SU Athletics caught up with Coach McIntyre after the tilt and he seemed quite pleased with the effort and the preseason as a whole. Here's to hoping it's a precursor to a solid season ahead.

Again, SU @ Colgate, 7pm EST, Time Warner Sports Channel.
