Ovretime: Syracuse Rallies To Top Carleton 69-65 In Extra Period

Even though it didn't matter...whew.

Nate Shron

Can we all at least admit that, even though the outcome of this game was 100% meaningless, there was a part of us desperate to see the Syracuse Orange erase a double-digit deficit and beat the Carleton Ravens?

Yes? Good. We move forward, thankfully, cause they did just that.

Syracuse trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half, but the Orange came back to force the game into overtime and then downed the Ravens 69-65 for the overtime win in front of 6,004 fans — many of them clad in orange.

Again, even though this game was completely meaningless, it was great to see the team come together and battle through to save face. Especially with C.J. Fair out towards the end of the game and Rakeem Christmas & DaJuan Coleman spending a lot of minutes on the bench.

Call Tyler Ennis Mr. August because the freshman is proving that he's worthy of the hype. He scored 15 points, all in the second half, while also dishing four assists and grabbing five steals.

Jerami Grant led the Orange with 18 points

Carleton shot a lot of three-pointers. A LOT of three-pointers. Forty, to be exact. They made ten.

All in all, a fantastic opportunity for the team to play in a competitive environment so early on. A game like this should serve them well down the road. They'll wrap up the Canadian Tour with a game against the Ottawa Gee-Gees tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
