Name: Jeremi Wilkes
Position: Free safety
Year: Junior
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 179
Hometown: Tampa, FL
High School: Tampa Catholic
2012 Stats: Wilkes started every game for the Orange last season, finishing fifth in tackles with 64. Against Pittsburgh he forced a critical fumble that Dyshawn Davis returned for a touchdown and he had his biggest games late in the season, including a season-high eight tackles against Cincinnati.
2013 Projections: By all accounts, more of the same. Wilkes is once again the starting free safety and he will be called upon to prevent opponents from doing good things when the people in front of him are unable to.
How'd He Get Here?: Wilkes was quite the get for Doug Marrone at the time. While his size may have been a red flag for some programs, that didn't prevent Florida State, Iowa, Louisville, or Rutgers from offering. Wilkes chose SU right before he was scheduled to go visit Rutgers. Clever boy...
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Scout said two but Rivals said three.
Money Quote: "I think we can be better than last year as a defense." - Wilkes before last season. He was right!

What Does Shafer Think: Said Wilkes is a "good football player. He’s got great instincts."
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Jeremi's family made it out to the USF game last year and recorded stuff on YouTube. It was fun.
