You can stop waiting for that call. You didn't get the job.
Kip Wellman, who was formerly a graduate assistant for the Syracuse Orange basketball team, has been named the new director of men's basketball operations.
His responsibilities include managing the operation of the men's basketball office, coordinating team travel, serving as the liaison with department support services, assist in the management of Syracuse basketball camps and clinics, and coordinate recruiting visits.
Wellman returns to Syracuse after serving as a director of player development and then as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers were the 2012 Sun Belt Tournament Champions and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Wellman is SU's third DoMBO in two years and should be expected to bring some stability not only to the position but also to SU's ongoing academic "issues."
Wellman was previously a four-year grad assistant for the Orange and helped the team do extensive planning & scouting. He's on Twitter here, so, follow him.
