Name: Omari Jahi Palmer
Position: Offensive guard
Year: Redshirt Freshman
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 309
Hometown: Coram, N.Y.
High School: Longwood High School
2012 Stats: Omari redshirted and, as such, did not play.
2013 Projections: Omari's got a solid chance at some PT thanks to a thin offensive line unit (not literally...these guys are very un-thin). He's currently listed as the back-up right guard behind Rob Trudo. Of the five guys currently slotted at 2nd-string, three of them are redshirt freshman. So who's gonna step up? Omari's got a good shot.
How'd He Get Here?: Syracuse was the first to offer and Omari doesn't mess around. He committed almost immediately.
Scout/Rivals Said: Two stars across the board.
Money Quote: "I know for a fact that me and my offensive linemen are THE most important part of the offense. If we’re going to score, we have to play, we have to block. They (other positions) might get all of the glory, but in the locker room, within the team and the coaching staff, everyone knows that we are what puts points on the board – what makes the offense click."
Links O'Wonder: Lineman Omari Palmer wants to be part of the motor that drives the Syracuse University offense

What Does Shafer Think: Dunno but here's what Marrone said last year...
"I watched him early on and, you know, I guess when you use the term 'road grader' and you watch other teams that were defending him...and they were saying 'on defense, we were just trying to cut him coming out.' He has a background in wrestling, something that I always look forward to, or look into whenever we're recruiting an offensive lineman. We've been lucky. I've been fortunate. We've got a lot of good, young offensive lineman. We picked Omari to come in and he has the ability to help us...quickly, because of his type of style of play."
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Via Dan's profile last year, Omari grew up as a Syracuse fan, so making his college decision was a bit easier than it was for many of our other recruits. He's also an avid TNIAAM reader, so...hi Omari!
