Syracuse Men's Soccer: Preseason Ranks and Accolades

All sorts of preseason polls, rankings, any way to categorize who is better than who are coming out recently. A few of them include the Orange.

Looks like the first Coaches Poll of the season came out yesterday. In soccer this gets the dubious distinction of being the NSCAA/Continental Tire preseason rankings. Yes, somehow soccer rankings are sponsored by a tire manufacturer. No, I have no idea why.

Either way, it looks like the Orange come in at Number 20. Coming off their 14-6-1 campaign of last year that had them sitting in the #17 spot in the polls at the end of the season. Syracuse combines with Maryland (2), UNC (4), Notre Dame (7), Wake Forest (17) and Virginia (25) to give the ACC a total of 6 schools represented in the polls. Future conference member Louisville is also ranked at 10.

TopDrawerSoccer.com has released their preseason player rankings for the 2013 college soccer season. Syracuse's Alex Bono has made the list at #75. Bono was ranked #6 among keepers on the list and at #75 overall as a sophomore is doing quite well for himself.

This comes on the heels of a preseason #28 overall freshman ranking last year. Alex likes to rack up accolades prior to any shots being taken at him. He was also the second team Freshmen All-XI last year from TopDrawerSoccer. With a solid back four in front of him, Bono should be in for another great year in net for us.

And because I can, here's a recap from CNY Central back in August, recapping the local boys, Ramin, Bono and Stamoulacatos:
