Get To Know Your Orange Man - #43 Franklin Santos

Franklin Santos enters his third year with Syracuse, though he's yet to see the field.

Name: Franklin Santos

Position: Wide Reciever

Year: Junior

Height: 5'10"

Weight: 175

Hometown: Providence, RI

High School: Classical High School/Cushing Academy

2012 Stats: None

2013 Projections: Franklin is pretty low on the depth chart right now, but may actually see the field a bit in 2013. I'm not sure how much, of course, but don't count out a few passes headed toward Santos -- especially if we start to see some (gulp) injuries among the receiving corps.

How'd He Get Here?: Santos was a walk-on out of Cushing Academy and by all accounts, he wasn't pursued by another team.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Rivals didn't care about Santos much out of high school or now. Scout says he's a cornerback (which he was last season as well), and that's it.

Money Quote: Courtesy of his Twitter feed that's been inactive for over four years now, Franklin doesn't seem thrilled about the Super Bowl being held outside the U.S.:

"So... I heard that the NFL SuperBowl could be taking outside US for the first time, in London anywhere from 2014 to 2017. Hummmm...."

Links of Wonder: Sorry. There's nothing wonderful about the links you find regarding Santos. Mostly because there's not much about him on the web. See his Twitter feed if you'd like to get a glimpse at the ramblings of a high school football player in 2009.

What Does Shafer Think?: Same thing he probably thinks about everyone who doesn't play much on this team. Or maybe nothing?

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: SU Athletics wants to make sure you're aware he used to run track.

Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya: Franklin's high school highlight tape is everything you'd expect from one of these self-made videos back in early 2009. He's going for the perception that he's tough (hence aggressive "metal" riffs), which puts him in the good graces of Scott Shafer (I guess).
