"The hay is never in the barn!"
"Send it in, Jerome!"
I want to hear this call-and-response on TV at some point during the season. Who's going to be in charge of making sure that happens?
Name: Jerome Smith
Position: Running Back
Year: Redshirt Junior
Height: 6-0
Weight: 226
Hometown: Bear, DE
High School: Pencader Charter
2012 Stats: Smith rushed for 1,171 yards and three touchdowns on 227 carries - nbd.
2013 Projections: After a stellar 2012, he and Prince-Tyson Gulley expect to be a potent pair in the backfield, and the world agrees. Smith is tied for #15 with Gulley on the ACC Digital Network's Top 25 Players to Watch list. He's also been named to some preseason conference teams (Athlon Sports' Preseason All-ACC first team, Phil Steele's Preseason All-ACC second team) and is on a couple award watch lists (2013 Maxwell Award, 2013 Doak Walker Award).
How'd He Get Here?: By saying no to Wisconsin. Syracuse offered him a scholarship after he attended one of the one-day camps.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Two and three stars, respectively.
Money Quote:
There is no money-r of a quote than this:
The hay is never in the barn

Although, this one's close:

— Jerome Smith (@RomeSmith45) July 28, 2013
He totally gets us!! Someone, please, get the man his shirt!
Links of Wonder: Keep the Twitter love going. So worth it.
What Does Shafer Think:
He had this to say after Smith was granted a retroactive medical redshirt for his freshman season:
I love Jerome. He's a great worker.
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Kid killed it in high school, too. During his senior year, he had 36 tackles and four sacks on defense. He also rushed for 1,334 yards and 16 touchdowns on 193 carries.
