Name: J. Sam Rodgers
Position: Long Snapper
Year: Senior
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 234
Hometown: State College, PA
High School: Mercerburg Academy
2012 Stats: Rodgers was the long and short snapper for Syracuse in every game last season. About the best you can hope for in this position is that no one really noticed you. So...he did well. As for what SU's kickers did with his snaps...'nother story.
2013 Projections: For all intents and purposes, Rodgers will continue to be the most important Syracuse football player you don't notice. At least you hope...
How'd He Get Here?: Rodgers could "see the Penn State campus from his bedroom window" as a kid. The Nittany Lions, as well as UConn and Ohio St., invited Rodgers as a preferred walk-on, but SU's schollie offer tipped the scales. Let it never be said that Doug Marrone's interest in getting quality linemen didn't pay off.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Rivals said two stars but Scout didn't rate him. Prokicker.com rated him as the 22nd-best snapper in his class.
Money Quote: "I feel like I'm in a spot where I should give back in any way I can. I grew up pretty healthy and with a good family. Right now, I'm a college football player and I'm in a spot where I can help." - Rodgers

What Does Shafer Think: Dunno but here's how important former coach John Anselmo saw the long-snapper position:
"The second seat on the plane always went to the long snapper [after the quarterback]. That’s how coaches think of long snappers. If you don’t have a long-snapper, you have a problem."
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Rodgers is president of the Syracuse University chapter of Uplifting Athletes, which just raised over $6K to help fight brain cancer.
Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya: Not gonna make you watch snapping highlights. Here's Sam & coach...
