Get To Know Your Orange Man - #81 Alex Schoen

Alex Schoen may be one of the newest members of the Orange football squad, but he may make his biggest impact on John Desko's team.

Name: Alex Schoen

Position: Defensive Back

Year: Freshman

Height: 5'7"

Weight: 161

Hometown: Short Hills, NJ

High School: Millburn

2012 Stats: At Millburn he racked up 812 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns on just 91 carries, for a gaudy 8.92 yards per carry. He also registered 22 total tackles and six interceptions on defense.

2013 Projections: I wouldn't expect much from the freshman walk-on in 2013.

How'd He Get Here?: Interestingly enough, Schoen might be here more for lacrosse. This Laxpower thread discusses his prowess as a potential new FOGO.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Nothin'

Money Quote:

"My favorite memories of my high school career are not winning games, scoring touchdowns or winning face-offs. It's the great times I've had and the relationships I've created with my teammates that will last a lifetime."

Links of Wonder: Schoen and girls soccer player Jenny Olensky were Millburn's Athletes of the year... and they're both coming to Syracuse this year.

What Does Shafer Think: Well, Schoen made the team, so he thinks something.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Schoen got a ton of recognition for his Lacrosse career, as you may expect. He was named to the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse League Waterman Division first team as well as New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Group 3 first team.
