Another day in the 60's, another Syracuse Orange lineman...

Name: Nick Robinson

Position: Offensive Tackle/Guard

Year: Junior

Height: 6'5"

Weight: 270

Hometown: Baldwinsville, NY

High School: C.W. Baker High School

2012 Stats: Robinson saw action in nine games last season, almost all of which was on special teams.

2013 Projections: Robinson hits the bigtime in 2013. He's slotted as the starting right guard as of right now. It's his time to shine.

How'd He Het Here? A local player with strong academics and leadership, Marrone couldn't lose out on Robinson. He offered Robinson a scholarship after Nick received offers from Buffalo, Western Michigan, and Tulane (but not Akron...).

Scout/Rivals Said: Two stars all around for Robinson.

Money Quote: "It makes me strive to be even better because he sets a perfect example. And I try to push him and make him go as hard as he can to see if he can become a better player. I can’t just sit back and relax, because it’s not just like they’re going to give me the position when he’s gone. There will always be new players coming in wanting that position. I just have to keep working." - Robinson on what he's learned from three-year starter Zack Chibane.

Tweets of Wonder: He's not on Twitter as far as I can tell. I didn't know you could do that...

What Does Shafer Think: No idea but here's new OL coach Pat Perles...

"He did not have one snap of pass protection last year," Perles said, "so that was a big learning curve for him. It's one thing to practice it. It's one thing to drill it, but it's another thing to do it in live scrimmages. He has been probably the most improved player of the entire line, and he had to be to be able to start and play at a high level."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Robinson was voted the best local player in the CNY region when he became the first offensive linemen to receive the Post Standard's CNY Player of the Year Award. He also racked up a couple of Honor Athlete of the Week awards as well.
