All due respect to Prince-Tyson Gulley, George Morris II, Adonis Ameen-Moore and the rest, the name up on the marquee headed into this season is Jerome Smith. The Syracuse Orange RB is expected to do some impressive things and that's why it's no surprise he's been placed on the 2013 Doak Walker Award watch list.
Smith is coming off a 1,171-yard season (fifth-best ever for SU) that included four-consecutive games in which he ran for over 115 yards. As discussed before, if he keeps it up, he has the chance to go down in the SU history books
Smith was also named to the Maxwell Award watch list for the best overall player in college football. By all accounts, he's getting the most preseason hype for a Syracuse RB since...I don't know...Walter Reyes? I don't even remember Delone Carter or Curtis Brinkley getting this kind of stuff.
So can we drop the guy down from No. 45 to No. 44 or what?
