Fogarty, who was born in Syracuse on April 6, 1937, grew up in Newton, Mass., before returning to Central New York for college. He played both quarterback and defensive back for the Orange under legendary head coach Ben Schwartzwalder, winning letters on the varsity team from 1956-58.
