2012 Stats: Wales is coming off his first season as Syracuse's main TE target, garnering 35 receptions for 389 yards and two TDs. That's the second-most receptions for a Syracuse TE in a single season.

2013 Projections: I don't want to get ahead of ourselves but Wales is in a pretty good position right now. He's good enough to be named to the John Mackey Award Watch List and he's going to be a big target for whoever ends up as the QB. If he keeps up this trajectory, he should match Nick Provo for the school record in TE receptions.

How'd He Get Here?: Wales was recruited by former SU assistant Stan Drayton. He cited playing time and really fitting in as his reasons for choosing to come North. He also had offers from Iowa, Indiana, Duke, FAU and others.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Both rated Wales as a two-star recruit. Scout.com listed him as the 57th rated tight end in the country in 2010.

"Beckett has always had the ability," SU coach Doug Marrone said of the junior tight end. "But what I’ve really seen, and really just recently, is him growing up and really being able to control some of his emotion. It’s very difficult when you coach a player like that because you like a player who’s emotionally involved and into it, but it has to be channeled and directed the right way."
