The benefits of joining the ACC are only beginning to trickle in but we're seeing one of them in the announcement that the YES Network has picked up a whole slew of ACC football and basketball games for the upcoming season and you can bet they're going to be mostly Syracuse Orange games.
As part of the deal, YES will televise up to 10 ACC football games and up to 23 men’s ACC basketball games, as well as select women’s basketball and Olympic sports. YES will also offer up to 10 Big East basketball games. Telecast schedules will be announced at a later date. All games will be broadcast in high definition.
MSG is also reportedly in the mix to pick up games that ESPN and Raycom Sports pass on.
Basically, it just means more options and more ways for Syracuse fans to watch their team, while also cutting down on the number of games that won't be nationally-televised.
And if a game isn't picked up by ESPN, Raycom, YES or MSG, then CNYCentral has swooped in for local rights, which likely means that's where you'll find the SU vs. Colgate this year. YES, MSG & CNYCentral might also be good spots to actually watch Syracuse Lacrosse on TV as well.
As for what we actually know for the upcoming SU football season, the Penn State game will be televised on ABC, Northwestern will be on BTN and Wagner will be on ESPN3. You can pretty much bet the Clemson game, FSU game and a bunch more will find their way to an ESPN channel as well.
