The men's college lacrosse regular season is over and you know what that means? Now you can start paying attention!
In spite of some stumbles along the way, the Syracuse Orange ended the season in solid fashion, defeating then-No. 1 Notre Dame over the weekend and vaulting their way into the top five of both major polls.
In the Media Poll, the Orange are up to No. 3, behind North Carolina and Cornell. The Irish drop to No. 5.
In the Coaches Poll, the Orange are up to No. 5, behind UNC, Cornell, Denver and Loyola and just ahead of the Irish.
College Crosse has the full poll breakdown. In terms of RPI, they're 6th overall, so take that as you like.
The Villanova Wildcats might have ended the season No. 19 and No. 20 in the polls but they'll enter the Big East Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed, thanks to their win over Syracuse earlier in the year. They'll play the four-seed Georgetown Hoyas Thursday, 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3. Before that, the two-seed Syracuse Orange get a rematch with the three-seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The winners face-off for the BET title on Saturday, 12:00 p.m. ET. The games will be played at Villanova Stadium, which gives the Wildcats all the incentive they need to earn the conference's autobid into the NCAAs.
Lax Magazine currently sees Syracuse as the five-seed in the NCAA Tournament, taking on the winner of the Patriot League for the chance to play Penn State or Ohio State.
