We've tallied up the votes and the 2013 Syracuse Orange Blogger (S.O.B.) Awards have been decided. Let's honor the players, coaches, fans and moments from the 2012-2013 Syracuse Orange basketball season.
The next award will be given to the Best Syracuse Sophomore.
My vote, a everyone else's, went to Michael Carter-Williams.
He may need one more year at the collegiate level to make Syracuse fans completely happy with him, but I will remember him fondly. Thanks and good lukc, MC Dubz.
Dan Lyons agrees, and added a bit more to why the soon-to-be first-rounder is the obvious choice...
MCW was the most talented player on the team, seemed to excel in big moments (Michigan game exempted), and is a major reason, if not the primary reason, why Syracuse made a final four run this year. He should become SU's fourth lottery pick in the last five years, and I think he's worth the investment, as his best basketball is ahead of him. It's a shame that he won't make that development in Orange, but he absolutely deserves the riches that the NBA will bring.
Chris points out there wasn't many other choices...
Let's see here....McDubz, Trevor Cooney or Rakeem Christmas? I'll go with MCW. Do I even relly have to explain why?
Of course, does MCW actually qualify for the award?
He should honor the birth certificate. It doesn't say MCW on it. -- shokdiese
Regardless of qualifications, Carter-Williams was a near unanimous choice (90-percent) in the reader poll.
Presented with the information, I've decided to award the Best Sophomore S.O.B. to...Michael Carter-Williams.
