I don't know what kind of cash payment Syracuse University is allowed to send to Florida Gulf Coast University for services rendered in the last month, but we should probably do that.
First, the 15-seed upsets the two-seed Georgetown Hoyas and ruins their season, much to our delight. Now comes word that their head coach is about to become the new head coach of the USC Trojans, thereby removing Syracuse Orange assistant Mike Hopkins' likely destination if he decided to leave for a head coaching gig.
It's a sweet gig for Enfield, for sure, but as far as SU fans are concerned, it couldn't be better. Now filled are both the USC and UCLA positions, two plum jobs that our Southern Cal-born Coach Hop might have coveted. With rumors that Minnesota is looking to keep things in the state, it's becoming more and more likely that Hopkins will indeed remain Syracuse's coach-in-waiting.
Perhaps this unexpected post-season run is paying off in ways we didn't even realize.
I can think of one commenter who's going to be happy to hear all of this... #ContractHonored
