The 2013 Syracuse Orange Blogger (S.O.B.) Awards are here. Honoring the players, coaches, fans and moments from the 2012-2013 Syracuse Orange basketball season, we here at TNIAAM are splitting the process between ourselves and you, the dear readers.
The category up for debate at the moment is Best Syracuse-Related Meme of the Year.
This is a little tricky because, at the end of the day, what constitutes a meme here? My feeling is, if its a reference or idea that we worked over like a punching bag all season, for better or worse.
The ones that come to mind most...
Jim Boeheim Is Going To Retire
Even before Gregg Doyel asked Boeheim if he was considering retiring during the post-game presser following Syracuse's loss to Michigan, this was already a joke amongst Syracuse fans. Thanks to some nudnik at OCC and some nudnik running the SU Twitter account, Boeheim retirement speculation went to plaid in March and April. Boeheim first refuted the rumor in mid-March (and again in late March) (and again before the Final Four) and hasnt changed his story since but that hasn't stoppedeveryone from continuing to ask him about it.
If Crabbe Gets Hot, Cal Could Get Right Back In This.
During the Syracuse-Cal game in the third round, announcer Dan Bonner might as well have been wearing gold & blue while calling the game. Bonner was in full-on Jim Ross Mode all night, doing everything he could to make it seem like Cal was one shot away from winning the game and upsetting Syracuse, despite the fact that Syracuse basically never trailed and had a comfortable lead for most of the game. Bonner was so over-the-top every time Cal scored that Syracuse fans have basically been living in mock fear for two weeks now that, at any moment, Cal could get back in this one. Even as we were beating Indiana and Marquette, Syracuse fans knew in the back of their mind that, if Crabbe gets hot, Cal's back in this game.
#HonorYourContract
On March 5th, news leaked that Mike Hopkins had interviewed for the head coaching gig with the USC Trojans. As commenters started chiming in, most with level-headed responses and wondering about how SU would react if Hopkins left. And then...
And so it began. Since then, we've had no ability to convince Will the world is not a black & white place and Will has taught us the value of digging in on an issue like an Alabama tick and never letting go. It's impressive, really. And we've been having some fun with it ever since.
Got anymore?
There won't be a poll for this one, I'm just gonna leave it up to folks in the comments to point out their favorite one. If you like the same one, go ahead and rec it and we'll tally it up that way.
We'll close voting in 24 hours and tally up the results. The TNIAAM crew will make their own selection and then we'll combine the results to pick our winner. We'll announce the winner in a post next week that includes some of your comments as well as ours.

And so, it's time to decide who you consider the Best Syracuse-Related Meme of the Year.
