Don't look now but the Syracuse Orange men's lacrosse team is making moves. The Orange moved all the way up to No. 3 in the media poll and No. 5 in the coaches poll.
In the Media Poll, SU (9-2) garnered two first-place votes and 355 total points to put them in third behind the Denver Pioneers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Maryland and North Carolina round out the top ten. Villanova (No. 19) is the only other Big East squad in the poll.
College Crosse's Matt Glaude agreed with the No. 3 sentiment.
Over in the Coaches Poll, the Orange are down at No. 5 behind Denver, UNC, Notre Dame and Maryland. Villanova is No. 19 here as well.
Quint Kessenich also has Syracuse at No. 5 in his Top 20, giving them credit for beating Cornell...but not too much.
...let's be honest: this game was won by a margin of centimeters. Schoonmaker's shot hits the pipe and bounces directly to Cometti for the easy put-back. Moments later, Connor English's game-tying toss hits the cross-bar and deflects high into the Dome sky. Flip-flop those two pipe shots and Cornell would have won. Just saying.
Using the Media Poll as our guide, Syracuse is now 2-1 against Top Ten teams and 5-2 against Top 20 teams.
Up next, a Tuesday night tilt in the Dome against Hobart before wrapping the season up against Georgetown and Notre Dame.
