The Siena College Research Institute recently released the results of a poll that asked New Yorkers who their favorite sports teams are. And the numbers officially back DOC Gross up, the Syracuse Orange truly are New York's College Team.

The most popular picks for favorite team? The New York Yankees (28%), New York Giants (13%), New York Mets (10%), New York Knicks (10%) and Syracuse Orange (7%).

Who trailed the Orange? The Buffalo Bills (5%), New York Jets (4%), Brooklyn Nets (4%), Buffalo Sabres (3%), New York Rangers (2%) and New York Islanders (1%).

The Bills' hiring Marrone and (probably) drafting Ryan Nassib makes a whole lot more sense now. They want our numbers...

When asked who their 2nd favorite team was, voters gave the Orange a 4%, which was eighth overall.

Which kind of New Yorkers love Syracuse most? Upstaters, obviously (2nd overall to Yankees). Republicans, interestingly, (T-2nd overall to Yankees). People 50-64 (T-3rd overall behind Yankees & Mets).
