The Syracuse Orange men's lacrosse team is slowly but surely inching its way back to where it belongs, namely, well within the top ten of the national polls.

In the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, the 3-1 Orange are all the way up to No. 7 following their 13-11 victory over the St. John's Red Storm over the weekend. Matt over at College Crosse had SU at No. 8 in his poll.

The folks over at the USILA Coaches Poll aren't so high on SU, ranking them at No. 11 overall.

Quint Kessenich has the Orange in the middle of the two at No. 9.

The Orange first midfield, led by Jojo Marasco, looked sharp in a win over St. John's at PPL Park on Saturday. The senior was involved in five of the Orange's first nine goals, drawing doubles and picking apart the defense. Luke Cometti and Scott Loy scored a pair each. Great to see Derek Maltz find his shooting touch. The Syracuse defense played without Brandon Mullins. St. John's Kieran McArdle (5.6 points per game) was impressive in defeat.

Maryland is your near-unanimous No. 1, getting every vote in the media poll and all but one vote in the coaches poll (Cornell gets one). The only other Big East school in the rankings is No. 3/No.4 Notre Dame.

College Crosse has a whole rundown of the polls. The Orange now prepare for a visit from the No. 5/No. 6 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (5-1).
