And just like that, the Monday night matchup between the Syracuse Orange and Notre Dame Fighting Irish is a Top 25 showdown. While the Orange dropped to No. 9 in the AP Poll, the Irish moved back into the poll at No. 25. Syracuse was already looking to take advantage of this big opportunity by ending their losing streak and advancing their home-win streak and now the game takes on even more national significance.
The tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on ESPN (ESPN3). Sean McDonough, Jay Bilas and Bill Raftery are on the call.
Jerami Grant is brothers with Notre Dame's Jerian Grant. Expect to hear about that once or five million times.
James Southerland will miss the game as his hearing is appeal reportedly scheduled for Friday. Fingers crossed it's the last game he misses. In the meantime, someone other than C.J. Fair will have to step up and take command of the court. Brandon Triche? Michael Carter-Williams? Rakeem Christmas? Go for it.
