Former Syracuse Orange DE Arthur Jones recorded a bigtime sack and bigtime fumble recovery as he helped the Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans.
Jones made a couple critical individual plays and was also part of a defense that bent, a lot, but didn't break in the final minutes of the game. His 2nd quarter fumble recovery helped keep the momentum going early for the Ravens. His third quarter sack of Colin Kaepernick stalled a drive just before the SuperDome blackout. And in the final defensive stand of the game, he was part of the Baltimore unit that kept San Fran out of the endzone to ice the victory.
Brothers Chandler Jones and Jon Jones were both on hand to witness the victory.
Jones finished the 2013 Playoffs with seven tackles, a fumble recovery and a sack and will head into the offseason as a free agent for the first time. His showing in the biggest game of them all should go a long way towards his next contract.
Congrats to Art and Jameel McClain, who is on IR but was a key member of the Ravens before the injury.
