There has been a lot of confusion about whether not the 2013 football game between the Syracuse Orange and Wagner Seahawks will count toward's SU bowl eligibility. The assumption is that it will not since Wagner is well-below the percentage of scholarship players needed to qualify.
Chill, everyone. The game will count according to...uh...Wagner?
Herman Frazier, Syracuse's deputy director of athletics and the football program's schedule-maker, said via email that "before we engage in conversations with teams we ask them to declare if they count towards our bowl eligibility and Wagner stated 'yes.'"
Case...closed?
I'm a little concerned we've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: Never trust a Staten Islander looking at a quick payday when bowl eligibility is on the line.
I really hope this is true because I'm reasonably-sure "Well, Wagner told us it counts" isn't actually good enough on its own. And given the tough schedule (insert ACC joke), we can't be skimping on the bowl-eligible-counting wins (I feel like I say this every year).
