No. 8 Syracuse Orange Vs. No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas Game Thread

Syracuse. Georgetown. The Carrier Dome. 35,012 fans. The Big East Conference. Game on.

USA TODAY Sports

The time for talking has come and gone. It is now time to just cheer your hardest and hope good prevails over evil at the Carrier Dome Saturday afternoon (4 p.m. on CBS).

For the last time as Big East Conference rivals, the No. 8-ranked Syracuse Orange and No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas will square off at The Loud House. This time it will be in front of a NCAA on-campus record of 35,012 fans.

This will be the 17th time these two programs will meet in front of a crowd of 30,000-plus. Syracuse is 10-6 in those games.

The showdown has a lot of sentimental value but also a ton of real value, as both squads, along with the Marquette Golden Eagles, are tied for first place in the Big East standings. The winner jumps a game ahead of the other, which could come in handy for a Big East regular-season crown.

There's no other way to describe the game other than: a big deal.

CBS' Tim Brando will be calling the action. Along side him will be everyone's favorite commentator, Bill Raftery.

Today's referees?: the one-and-only Jim Burr, Jeff Clark and Tony Greene. Expect this one to get ugly.
