Brandon Triche scored 29 points on Saturday in Syracuse's win over Seton Hall. That is a lot of points, you guys.

As Syracuse Orange fans, I don't need to tell you that we're not known for having guys that put up major scoring numbers consistently. We might get a 25-point night here and there but more often than not our leading scorer is in the 15-18 range.

It made me wonder just how rare big scoring nights like Brandon's are for SU. I took to the OrangeHoops archives to do a little digging and here's what I found.

SU Players Who Scored 25+ Most Times Since '02-'03: Hakim Warrick (18), Gerry McNamara (14), Carmelo Anthony (12), Demetris Nichols (7), Jonny Flynn (6), Donte Greene (6), Andy Rautins (4), Eric Devendorf (3). Wes Johnson (3), Kris Joseph (3), Brandon Triche (3)

By no means is this a defining statistic but it makes for an interesting discussion. Syracuse used to have much more dominant scorers all-around. Whether the game has changed or Syracuse has changed...scoring 29 points ain't what she used to be.
