Houston, You Have An Orange Problem: Syracuse To Play Minnesota In Texas Bowl

The Orange will get a chance at vengeance against the Golden Gophers when they meet in Houston.

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

After a day full of waiting, and waiting, and waiting, it's finally official. The Syracuse Orange (6-6) will take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers (8-4) in the 2013 Texas Bowl in Houston's Reliant Stadium on December 27.

The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Eastern and will be televised on ESPN.

You may remember the Gophers from their 17-10 win over the Orange last season. It was one of those games SU lost more than Minny won and it'll be nice to have a chance to avenge it. This year's version started out very well at 8-2 but stumbled down the stretch with losses to Michigan State and Wisconsin. In the shared opponent department, they beat Northwestern (20-17) and Penn State (24-10). Syracuse lost to both.

Between all the predictions about the Heart of Dallas Bowl, Little Caesars Bowl and Beef O'Brady Bowl, it's as good a time as any to remind you that bowl predictors are no better than you or I.

Ultimately, this is much better than the Heart of Dallas Bowl, which will be televised on ESPNU and would have been against North Texas. If the name of the game is awareness, you take the Texas Bowl all day.

Much more to come...
