The Syracuse Orange are 6-6 and as such are entitled to a piece of the college football bowl pie. But there are concerns and horror stories about SU getting left out in the cold (rather than playing in the cold of a crappy bowl game). We're keeping track of developments until the whole damn thing is sorted out.
After the breakdown last time, I was pretty sure the Syracuse Orange wouldn't end up in the Pinstripe Bowl. Now it's official:
Notre Dame is headed to the Pinstripe Bowl after an 8-4 regular season, sources have confirmed to CBS Sports' Jeremy Fowler.
The other side of that equation is the No. 4 ACC AAC team, which will undoubtedly be Rutgers if they win.
Meanwhile, you can probably cross any hopes of completing The Quest For Belk off as well. Cincinnati has accepted a bid to play in the game and North Carolina is a heavy favorite to be their opponent.
Update: The head of the Military Bowl has also basically said if Maryland is on the table, they're getting taken.
One interesting note that could affect our chances of going to the Heart of Dallas Bowl or AdvoCare V100 Bowl. Despite the fact that Boston College is positioning itself for the non-ACC-affiliated HoD Bowl, the executive director of AdvoCare would like to remind them that if they're picked, they don't have much of a choice.
Meanwhile, Yahoo! Sports thinks the Orange are en route to the Beef O'Brady to take on Florida Atlantic. Fine. Jerry Palm at CBS Sports still has SU going to the Heart of Dallas for heaping helping of Rice.
Syracuse.com has some more things you can do to root for the Orange to have a better shot at a bowl game. Just remember to root against Rutgers. That's really important.
