Scott Shafer on Terrel Hunt...
This young man at my left (QB Terrell Hunt) is really representative of what we are as a program, young man from New York (and) stayed in New York to come and play at Syracuse. (He) isn’t’ the prettiest guy in the world on the field yet, but he’s getting prettier by the minute. He is handsome though. My daughter told me that. I really couldn’t be happier with the way he played today."
On the punt return success…
"I think it gave coach (George) McDonald a little more flexibility. We have two tough hard-nosed south Florida kids in Ritchy Desir, and Brisly Estime. It was a win win situation on who was going to go back there. Brisly is as quick as a jitterbug and we felt like he could give us a little something. It was a good call on Fred Reed’s part, Tim Daoust’s part, great decision to put him in.
On telling DeAndre Smith ‘I owe you 50 bucks’… "
I did. We had a situation where we were going to go two downs and, if we wouldn’t have gotten the first down, it would’ve been an opportunity to go again on fourth and short. DeAndre (Smith) said, ‘Shaf, you don’t have to worry about it, we’re getting this first down.’ I said, ‘You promise?’ We were doing a lot of promising today. He goes, ‘I promise Shaf. I got 50 bucks that we make it.’ I said, ‘If we make it, I owe you.’ That was a bet on the field, you can’t take yourself too seriously out there. Everything is overrated except for the relationships you make with each other and extended family. It makes our bonds with our players and coaches that much sweeter.
On a new slogan…
They say, ‘Don’t mess with Texas.’ Well, you don’t mess with Syracuse in Texas is what we say.
Cam Lynch on Brisly Estime's punt return…
"(LB) Dyshawn (Davis) was like, "he is about to take it back to the crib" and we were like, "we’ll see." We just saw him break and we were like, "oh snap you are right" and if he got past that punter it would have been nice."
Macky MacPherson on the end of the game…
"To be honest with you I barely remember it. I do remember getting on my knees and saying thank you man upstairs, and that was it right there. I had no more emotions after that. I was drained."
Jsy Bromley on the future of SU Football with Terrel Hunt…
"Hands down, it’s his turn. His team. They will go as far as he goes, period."
