Syracuse vs. Wake Forest: Donovan McNabb & Art Monk Among Weekend Honorees

Donovan McNabb will have his jersey retired while Art Monk leads an impressive class of SU LetterWinners of Distinction.

Saturday's game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons is a huge one. The outcome will have a huge effect on where the 3-4 Syracuse Orange go from here. There's going to be plenty of motivation for the SU players already. But here's just a big more...a few SU legends are going to be on hand to watch it all happen.

Obviously you know Donovan McNabb will be there. Syracuse is retiring his jersey at halftime. Also on hand will be legendary SU receiver Art Monk ('80) and outside linebacker Craig Bingham ('82), both of whom are among this year's LetterWinners of Distinction.

But that's not all...

In addition to Monk and Bingham, John Nicholson '68 (crew), Eileen (Smith) Edsall '81 (volleyball/basketball), the wife of Maryland head football coach Randy Edsall, and the 1983 NCAA champion men's lacrosse team will also be honored as as members of this year's Letterwinners of Distinction class.

Guys, don't boo Edsall. Don't do it (I know you want to...). The honorees will be officially, uh, honored, at the annual celebration on Friday, November 1 at the Turning Stone Event Center. DOCTOR Gross has picked out his finest suit for photo ops.
