For what might be the final time in a long time, the Syracuse Orange will step inside the Dunkin Donuts Center to play the Providence Friars. If this truly is the final time, let's make it count (and memorable for the right reasons). Particulars below...

Date: Wednesday, January 9th

Location: Dunkin Donuts Center, Providence, RI

TV: Time Warner Cable Sports/MASN/Cox Sports/Big East Network/ESPN3

Announcers: Don Orsillo & Ron Perry

Radio: Syracuse IMG Network/WAER 88.3/WTKW 99.5 FM/ESPN 97.7 FM/Sirius 112/XM 197

Records: Syracuse 14-1 (2-0), Providence 8-6 (0-2)

Rankings: Syracuse No. 7/7, Providence UNR

Friars' Last Game: In a game worthy of a Picard facepalm, the Friars lost 83-73 to DePaul.

Big East play has been the equivalent of running into a brick wall for Providence thus far. In two games Providence has had 39 turnovers to their opponents’ collective 23. While the knee jerk reaction is to say "well one of those games was a top five Louisville team on the road, of course they’ll turn over the ball some" you need to remember that Providence turned the ball over 16 times against Louisville (a lot) compared to the 23 turnovers against DePaul at home (an unacceptable amount). Given the ball handlers we have on this team and the pace we’re able to play at, breaking a press like the ones Louisville and DePaul threw at us shouldn’t be an issue, and yet somehow against DePaul we came within a turnover of having a 1:2 assist to turnover ratio (the Friars had 12 assists collectively).

Series: Syracuse leads 46-10.

Current Streak: 4, Syracuse

Last Game: Syracuse's 78-55 win over Providence last year was Mookie Jones' last "great" game for the Orange. He scored ten points as the Orange improved to 19-0.

Boeheim's Record Vs: 44-9 (2nd most wins against any team behind Seton Hall, 45).

Providence Last Year: The Friars finished 15-17 (4-14) just out of the Big East basement, thanks to DePaul. Their season ended in the first round of the BET at the hands of Seton Hall.

Providence Coach: Ed Cooley (2nd season) - Cooley is the latest in a long line of saviors for Providence basketball. He was in charge of Fairfield for five years beforehand where he led them to two postseason runs. He's feisty, so, that's good.

"Fear Me, I've Killed Hundreds Of Timelords": Bryce Cotton, who leads the Friars in scoring with 21.3 PPG. He's scored over 20 in nine of the team's 12 games this year and scored a season-high 33 against Boston College. Then there's Vincent Council, who is back in the lineup after an injury and looking to get back to his scoring ways.

Fun Fact: Providence is 101-231 all-time against Top 25 opponents. They're 0-1 this season but defeated then-No. 14 Louisville last year in the Dunk.

Unexciting Reason To Watch: Providence is currently the worst team in the Big East.

Exciting Reason To Watch: It's the Big East, is there ever really such a thing as an off-night (Until next year when SMU joins the league)?
