The Under Armour All-American Bowl takes place in St. Petersburg, FL tonight at 5:00 p.m. ET and will be televised on the NFL Network. The Semper Fi Game takes place in Carson, CA tonight at 9 p.m. EST and will be telebised on the NFL Network as well. One imagines that Syracuse Orange fans will be glued to their TVs to await the official college commitment announcements from NY recruits Ebenezer Ogundeko and Laray Smith, both of whom are expected to make theirs during those games, respectively.
I don't need to explain who these two guys are or why their commitments would be so important. Ogundeko originally said he wanted to buddy-up with good friend Augustus Edwards but when Edwards chose SU, Nezer had second thoughts and Clemson was more than happy to swoop in. We assumed we were out of the hunt but Ogundeko basicallty said it was going to come down to Clemson and SU in the end.
If Ebo does commit, remember to thank the females of Syracuse. "I met a lot of females. The females are great up here."
Smith knows Edwards and Ogundeko well and the three visited Syracuse together (documented in this amazing video). The three-star RB is said to be leaning heavily towards Syracuse but also holds offers from UConn, Tennessee, Purdue and others.
And of course, the pink elephant in the room is Doug Marrone's status as head coach of the Orange. Marrone is Bronx-born and has been instrumental in convincing New Yorkers to stay in the state with SU. If they're getting the signal that he's gone, will they walk away as well? We'll find out a lot tonight with these announcements.
