I ask the question because, according to Fox Sports' Peter Schrager, Ryan Nassib most certainly is:
6. Cleveland Browns: Ryan Nassib, Quarterback, Syracuse
Who?! I know, you’re expecting to see Matt Barkley, Geno Smith, or even Tyler Bray as the first and second quarterbacks taken in April. And three weeks ago, I had Mike Glennon — the big fella from NC State — up in the top 10. Nassib impressed me all season at ‘Cuse and looked more than just merely at ease in the snow during the Pinstripe Bowl. The more I watch his tape (and I’m still not done), the more I like what he brings to the table. He’s got the size, leadership and mobility to succeed at the next level. Brandon Weeden won’t be the guy in Cleveland next year. I promise you that.
Remember when I asked if Ryan Nassib was a first-round pick and you laughed?
I'm just starting to get used to the idea that Nassib might be a 2nd-round pick, let alone a 1st-round pick, let alone a top ten pick, let alone the first or second quarterback taken overall.
Who knows how realistic this is. Nassib's true value and draftability won't be known until the combine and workouts anyway. But given how far Chandler Jones climbed last season, it's not out of the realm of possibility, especially since all of these people have been so busy studying Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson and the other national prospects, chances are they haven't really gotten a full read on Nassib yet.
Let the "Where Will Ryan Nassib Be Drafted" Rumor Mill commence!
