Fab Melo left the Syracuse Orange with a reputation for being a defensive wizard and a mental, uh, non-wizard.
That reputation remains unchanged.
Fab is absolutely tearing it up in the D-League right now for the Maine Red Claws. In recent weeks he almost put together back-to-back triple doubles in points, rebounds and blocks. So it was no surprise to hear that the Boston Celtics recently-recalled him to join them. It's the specific reason that they recalled him that is, and isn't, surprising:
Fab Melo got his concussion walking into a hotel door.

Doc Rivers, bring us home...
"What did you have, ‘Manny being Manny?’" Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "Well, in five years when Fab’s playing terrific for us here, we’re going to have some ‘Fab being Fab’ moments."
And so, don't expect to see Fab in Celtics Green just yet. According to him, he'll be back in Maine by week's end. Hopefully he stays away from Bangor.
