The Syracuse Orange have had four football verbal commits in the past two days and two of them are three-star talent (whatever that means to you). Remember when you were worried we were gonna fall off? You're funny sometimes.

Chauncey Scissum from Rochester's Rush Henrietta High is the latest commitment in this recent flurry. The DB is rated three-stars by Scout, three-stars by ESPN and two-stars by Rivals. According to those sites, he also had offers from Buffalo, UMass, Bowling Green and Towson.

If that school sounds familiar, you should know it as Ashton Broyld's high school as well. Scissum and Broyld were teammates together and he tells CuseNation that he's "glad we're going to be on the same team again."

As a senior, Scissum scored 18 touchdowns and gained 1,500 all-purpose yards playing quarterback and defensive back. He was named Section 5 AA Player of the Year, an honor also won by Broyld. He was also named first-team All-State by the New York Sportswriters Association.

While a lot of the other recent recruits have been from out of state, it's nice to see Shafer's staff is also attempting to strengthen those bonds with the NY State schools as well.
