The other day I heard about The Scallenge for the first time. My initial thought is that it was some kind of Shrimp-eating deal at Red Lobster. Turns out, it's not.
Brian Scalabrine was sick of hearing it.
"I could beat Scal in a game of 1-on-1!"
Oh, really? You could? You could beat an 11-year NBA veteran and NBA Champion?
Three fans got the chance to put their money where their mouth is.
98.5 The Sports Hub's Fred Toucher and Rich Shertenlieb put together "The Scallenge", a one-on-one game between Scal and three challengers.
I'm not entirely sure how former Syracuse Orange player Matt Tomaszewski somehow qualifies for a "normie" in this instance but he ended up being victim No. 1 nonetheless.
Good job, good effort, Matty T. If it makes you feel better, Scalabrine went 4-0 overall and outscored his opponents 44-6.
Congrats to Scalabrine for beating a former walk-on and three other non-pros. You really proved...something.
All I'm left wondering is...doesn't Toucher & Rich sound like the name of bad indie porno or Blink 182 album?
