Syracuse Lacrosse Picked 2nd In Big East Preseason Coaches Poll

Notre Dame, not Syracuse, has been picked as the preseason favorite to win the Big East in 2013.

The 2013 Syracuse Orange will enter their final season as a member of the Big East lacrosse conference with enough chips on their shoulders to...uh...say that they, er, have a lot of chips.

Coming off another disappointing season that was saved only by winning the 2012 Big East Tournament, the Orange are officially not considered the favorite to win the conference. At least according to coaches.

Notre Dame received five first-place votes to claim the top spot. Syracuse received two first-place votes and came in second in the voting. They're followed in order by St. John's, Villanova, Georgetown, Rutgers and Providence.

Syracuse defenseman Brian Megill was selected as co-Big East Preseason Defensive Player of the Year along with Notre Dame GK John Kemp.

Megill and midfileder JoJo Marasco were named to the Preseason All-Big East Team. Notre Dame led the way with five players named to the squad, while St. John's Kieran McArdle has been named Big East Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Syracuse gets things underway this Saturday when they host a three-way (heehee) scrimmage with Hofstra and Holy Cross in the Dome. College Crosse has more on the Big East if you want to get up to speed for Syracuse's final go-round.
