Syracuse Football: Get To Know Your Orange Man - #42 Josh Mims

As usual, the new walk-ons include a number of local kids. Let's get to know one of the new guys.

Name: Josh Mims

Position: Defensive Back

Year: Junior

Height: 6'

Weight: 185

Hometown: Syracuse, NY

High School: Nottingham HS

2011 Stats: 45 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery for Division-III Buffalo State. He also returned kicks for the Bengals.

2012 Projections: While I don't see Mims pushing any of our scholarship defensive backs for time, he does have two years of productive college football at the D-3 level under his belt, so he may be valuable on special teams. Or maybe not, who knows?

How'd He Get Here?: Buffalo State football wasn't enough for Mims. He wanted something more, something greater, something...Orange-r. And he probably wanted to be closer to home and get a Syracuse education.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: I asked and they were all like "who?"

Money Quote: This is kind of awkward, since this was from an article written in late June, and had to have transferred from Buffalo State soon thereafter.

"My expectations for the team this year are high," Mims said. "Coming from last season with all of the close games we were in and just how we couldn’t finish at the end. We were in all of those games and we should’ve won them. We just had a couple of mental errors that broke us down, but I believe those errors and mental blocks are not going to prevent us from winning games this year."

Links of Wonder: Here's Josh's fancy Buffalo State athletics profile.

What Doug Marrone Thinks: Couldn't tell ya...

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Josh majored in Public Communications at Buffalo State, and is currently enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences at SU.

Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya: See Josh flash those public communications skills here (starts at around 3:15)
