Syracuse Football: Get To Know Your Orange Man: #42 Julian Whigham

FROM TWITTER: Whigham doing things. Doing real big things.
FROM TWITTER: Whigham doing things. Doing real big things.

Name: Julian Whigham

Position: Defensive Back

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 175

Hometown: West Palm Beach, Fla.

High School: Dwyer

2011 Stats: N/A

2012 Projections: My guess? I'd say it's likely Whigham will need to add a little size while he gets used to being on campus. In reading up on the DB from (Oh wait, that doesn't look right. Here let's try this) in reading up on the defensive back from West Palm Beach (much better) I find there is great potential for Whigham. He's got speed (4.55 40-yard dash) and 'ball-hawking' skills that could make him a lock down style corner or a big threat at a safety position.

How'd He Get Here?: A late bloomer, Whigham actually ended up with offers from Miami (Fl), Indiana, and Boston College. In the end, the lure of Central New York was just too much for the kid from West Palm Freakin' Beach! You know, the same ol' same ol' when it comes to people choosing Central New York over paradise.

Actually, Whigham was born in Brooklyn and says he's 'always been a fan' of Syracuse.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Status quo of 2 stars from Scout, but, and I must say I'm truly stunned, Rivals gave Whigham 3 stars!

Money Quote: Showing just how important parents are as role models, Julian's mother gave him a choice of either rooting for evil or rooting for good when it came to sports.

'My mom gave me the opportunity to choose to root for the Florida teams or the New York teams, and I always chose the New York teams.'

Links of Wonder: Young Mr. Whigham is on Twitter tweeting his life away.

What Doug Marrone Thinks: Two things Doug Marrone doesn't do: no. 1 take out the trash (oddly he makes his wife do it) and no. 2 talk about freshmen.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Not sure if this Nugget O'Interest appeals to everyone, but Whigham was coached in high school by Coach Jack Daniels.

Bonus Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Dwyer, the school that Whigham played at under the tutelage of one Coach Daniels, is also my wife's maiden name. What are you looking at? This is my last profile and I'm running on fumes!

Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya: Here's Whigham practicing last spring:
