Guys transferring to and from the USC Trojans are going to be the bane of our existence this season. The Trojans are expected to pick up Penn State star RB Silas Redd via a transfer any day now. Meanwhile, the Northwestern Wildcats, who open the season in the Carrier Dome against the Syracuse Orange, just received word that USC transfer Kyle Prater will be eligible to play for them in 2012.

Northwestern wide receiver Kyle Prater, a Maywood, Ill., native who transferred to NU from Southern California earlier this year, will be eligible to compete for the Wildcats when the 2012 season opens on Sept. 1, the NCAA announced Tuesday.

Prater received a residence waiver from the NCAA allowing him to bypass the one-year wait period traditionally required of transfers in FBS football.

Prater brings boatloads of potential with him. Before he redshirted in 2010 and missed most of last season with injuries, Prater was a five-star recruit and high school All-American with 64 receptions for 1,151 yards and 13 touchdowns in his senior year.
