Name: Marcus Coleman

Position: Defensive Tackle

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 275

Hometown: Voorhees, N.J.

High School: Camden Catholic

2011 Stats: N/A

2012 Projections: In checking the ol' 2012 depth chart, one can assume that Marcus isn't likely to see the field much this coming season. Still, given the massive overhaul on the defensive line over the past two seasons, you can never truly count someone out of playing time. Plus, dude's six foot 3 and listed, listed, at 275! He's a big boy who could easily plug some holes (that's what she said) for a defense that had a few leaks last season.

One point of concern with Coleman could be his overall inexperience at the defensive line position. Up until this past fall, the kid from Jason Voorhees, New Jersey played mostly on the OLine. Coleman says he was recruited for defense and that's where he wants to play, but still, it may take some time (i.e. redshirting) to over come that type of learning curve.

How'd He Get Here?: It's not often that Syracuse and Purdue are battling over a recruit, but Coleman had a choice of scholarship offers from the Orange and Boilermakers. Evidently Rutgers, along with schools like Delaware and Duke, was hot after Coleman too.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Scout gave Coleman 2 stars - Rivals gave out the same 2 stars.

You know what, screw it, I'm going to give out my own freakin' ratings. I'm sick of reading everyone getting two stars! So, I'm now Matt McClusky Recruiting Analyst Czar. And as my first duty as recruiting king, I anoint 22 jeweled steins to young Mr. Coleman (ironically enough, 22 jeweled steins actually equates to 2 Rivals and Scout stars).

Money Quote: Either unaware of Syracuse's mid-2000's rebranding, or simply taking a dramatic stance even before stepping foot on campus, Coleman says he cares not for your ambiguous school mascot:

'I knew I wanted to be an Orangeman.'

Links of Wonder: Coleman was so pumped to sign on with Syracuse that he decided to start recruiting teammates.

What Does Marrone Think: While I'm sure Coach Marrone has nothing but kind things to say, I couldn't find much, so we'll just have to assume Marrone is really excited to have him on the team.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Coleman has a little Rick Flair in him! (What? What do you mean professional wrestling isn't like 'real' wrestling? Why would they call it professional then??? What's going on here!?)
