Syracuse Football: Get To Know Your Orange Man - #78 Jason Emerich

Let's keep the Get To Know train moving as it starts to make it's final turn...

Name:Jason Emerich

Position: Offensive line

Year: Freshman

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 275

Hometown: New Ringgold, PA

High School: Blue Mountain

2011 Stats: Not much in the way of stats but he played in the 2011 SCFCA North-South All-Star Game, the 2011 Chesapeake Bowl, was named to the 2011 Associated Press Pennsylvania Class AAA First Team and was selected for 2012 Big 33 Football Classic.

2012 Projections: One unnamed SU assistant told the P-S that Emerich could push for playing time. It's highly unlikely he can vault into the starting lineup but kicking unit and spot play during the game seems doable for this rising star.

How'd He Get Here?: Citing the family atmosphere and the quality of the coaches and players, the Pennsylvania hog-molly chose us over Akron (obviously), Buffalo, UConn, Temple and UCF.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Rivals said two stars for Jason while Scout said three stars, as well as a ranking of 99 amongst guards.

Money Quote: I really got a good feel for the coaches, and we get along great," Emerich told the P-S. "I’m real excited about the football program. I think Coach Marrone has it going in the right direction."

Links of Wonder: Orange Fizz has more on the lineman's recruiting process.

What Does Marrone Think: Nothing I can find, but "one SU assistant said earlier this year that newcomers Emerich and Omari Palmer were good enough to push for playing time as freshmen."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Emerich participated in the Big 33 Classic, which pits the best high school football players from Pennsylvania and Ohio against each other. It's a pretty big deal and cool to see a Syracuse recruit involved. Marvin Harrison once played in the game.
