We heard yesterday that Syracuse Orange legends Jim Brown and Dwight Freeney were on campus taking part in some kind of video shoot for football games. Today, Dave Rahme filled in the blanks on what sounds like a pretty kickass new pregame video for Syracuse home games.
"We’re basically shooting a new opening for football games," he said. "It’s a behind-the-scenes look of the team getting ready in the locker room . . . getting focused, getting the eye black on, all the little preparations as the intensity grows. And then as they walk through the tunnel there will be images of all the past greats such as Jim Brown, Floyd Little, Larry Csonka, Donovan McNabb, Dwight Freeney . . . all the guys who went before them. And then that big garage door will open and the players will come out through smoke and lights and those three guys (Brown, Freeney and Jones) will be there to greet them in person, kind of nod and give their approval."
The Jones in question is Chandler Jones. While Chandler isn't a "legend" per se, he's a great bookend to the Syracuse football legacy along with Brown and Freeney.
The video is being made by Roger Springfield which means it's in good hands. If you've watched a SU Athletics video at any time in the last decade and thought, "this is pretty badass," you can probably thank him.
As for what our mystery #44 is up to in the video, we'll have to wait and see.
By the way, choosing yesterday as the day to make this video, the same day that prized recruit Ebenezer Okundeko was visiting campus...well played, everyone. Well played.
